Happy Halloween...wanna dress up like a stack of ARCs...wannabee Joan d'ARC...check it out
O.K. fine...it's a (1 MB) QT movie of a short stack of ARCs. If you don't know what an ARC is or if you just like short stacks, check it out!
The season's winding down...but the show must go on. Check out some photos by special guest contributor, Michael Victor. Click here for his incisive survey of a veritable Bay Area kitguy icon.

September 16...The last few days have been relatively windy at Coyote, but the absence of airplane traffic and heightened security in the bay waters around the runways at SFO has left everyone here with an eerie sense of change and foreboding. When will the other shoe drop? For now it seems reasonable to continue about our lives as normally as possible under the circumstances. Giving in to this unspeakable evil is not an acceptable option. Team Coyote is proud to display the Stars and Stripes. God bless America!
Back by popular demand...Dr. Michael puttin' on the breaks for an in-a-rush, short-wheel landing. Air France just flew over and he's due at SFO to pick up the wife after a brief, but dry hair session at Coyote. Sorry Michael, that your photo was upstaged on "shot of the day" by the guy with his undies in his mouth, but the show must go on and who could pass on an "eat your shorts" moment?
August 11...a perfect Coyote day. Rick laying it down on the inside. Rickie G
August 11...Kristi playing tag with Rick. Kristi
Road kill...weekend water hazards littering the launch. weekend road kill
August 10...there seems to be a bit of controversy about the relative safety of kiters and more importantly, the personal safety of windsurfers who now must share their space with these devices of death.
This is my take on the subject.

Damn Kites!
August 5...the honeymooners have returned from their trip to the island. They brought back a some photos and a few good stories.
July 22...The Return of Summer 2001... Things returned to normal today at the point. A reasonable NW wind got the regulars back on the water and most went home with a smile on their face. Meanwhile...down at 3rd...
July 14...Bastille Day...Happy b-day to Tanya Russell and Cathy McRae! Today is a deep and dark December day...the fog is hovering low and wet over Coyote Point and along the peninsula hills. The wind is gusty and from the southwest. This is the winter of my discontent! I think I'll have a Krispy Kreme and take a nap. Tomorrow will be better.
July 7...well, the time finally came and the event went off with just one hitch. Kiteboy and Jibe-o-matic tied the knot much to the delight of all who attended. Check out the Wedding Page for a couple of quick shots. who got hitched?
Crowned Prince of the Bay...Owen Wattenmaker letting Dad (Jeff) join him in some tandem freestyle. By far the best action at KOB. Click here for the King of the Bay Movie. It's 11MB so it's not for the slow-connection or slow-processor impaired. Owen and Jeff W

June 15, 16 and 17, 12 noon to whenever...sponsered by Helm of Sun Valley...
Check out the action at 3rd Ave. If the wind and tides permit there should be some interesting stuff. The inside at 3rd is like a mini Hatchery...a great spectator area when there's water! Yes, we'll have videos of the event. Normally this editor would provide a link to the King of the Bay site...however...the site is totally unusable on a Mac...and that just pisses me off!
King of the Bay Contest
June 8th...O.K., here's the scenario. A kiteguy is down, within 30 feet of the beach, reeling in the lines attached to a BIG RED KITE. A blind guy who shall remain nameless (Romeo) sails full tilt boogie thru the 20 foot slot between the kiteguy and the BIG RED KITE.
Guess what the Blind Guy (Romeo) calls kitelines now. That's right, CLOTHESLINES! Maybe the helmeted blind guy should hand out helmets to the kiteguys when he (the bind guy) is out on the water.
Hope Blind Guy (Romeo) finds a new trick to work on soon.
June 1st and 2nd...ASD and Windsurfing Magazine hosted WINDFEST at Coyote Pt. Lots of new toys to touch and try and a great spectator day on Saturday. The wind was up and all sorts of stuff flew thru the parking lot. Click here for a grainy video of the events. It's a big (5.5 MB) file so don't bother if you don't have a broadband connection. Windfest 2001
May 6th, Coyote Pt…SNix shaking out the cobwebs. upside down
May 6th…SNix pickin' a bird off the corner post at Coyote. bird pickin'

April 7th…The forecast for today…"rain and breezy conditions." Well, part of that turned out to be true…the rain disappeared by early morning and the clearing winds filled in by 10:00 A.M. Coyote Pt. had only a handful of sailors out and most were on sub-5.0's. The wind chill factor was well below freezing and the water color was a delightful shade of chocolate. I headed down to 3rd. Ave to check out the ebb activity.
By the time I arrived at 3rd. the wind had picked up a few notches and the big & fat boys were rigging down to 4's. The SFO readings were 33 kts gusting to 38 kts. There were five times as many rigs on land as there were on the water.
Then the Coasties (U.S. Coast Guard helicopter) showed up. Seems some poor soul got left holding his sail as his board got a free, wind-driven ride to Alviso. It took the C.G. about 10 minutes of searching to find the bobbing boardless-one. After scooping him up into the flame-red, turbo-eggbeater, rescue flying machine, they circled the launch area as if to reassure the bystanders that they got their man and all was well. Instead of heading off into the sunset with their catch, they flew low and slow over the launch area (in the process flattening everyone who was sailing on the inside) and landed the rescue vehicle on the bike path right next to the golf course. What a show! Out popped the pooped pup of a sailor who endured the "ultimate walk of shame" to a cheering and hooting crowd of 50 wet, rubber-clad beings. A better show than the Pier 39 sea lions and Fleet Week combined!
A Big …THANK YOU… to the U.S. Coast Guard
