Mark Basta endured an ill-fated low tide grounding
just north of the San Mateo Bridge
after suffering a personal medical emergency
while navigating on auto pilot from Sausalito
to the Brisbane Harbor. He's lucky and blessed
to have avoided smashing into the San Mateo Bridge
and lucky to be well enough to tell the tale.

The next high tide (6+ feet) would be at about 3 AM.
Unfortunately, the draft of the sailboat is 7 feet.
Mark had to wait until the afternoon of the 16th for an 8+ tide
and enough water to free the keel from the mud.
With a lot of skill and some help from friends, the boat was
freed from its sticky situation and was last seen
headed home to Brisbane.
