April 15th. The latest Darwin Award candidate has been nominated...a quote from the iKitesurf discussion forum:
"A medical question.......
went wakeboarding 2 weeks ago, fell on my side and have been having chest pains. Went to the doc yesterday and he said I have bruised my heart. Must take it easy and do no sport that elevates the heart rate highly. Told him I kitesurf and he said "should be ok as long as the heart rate doesn't get up (breathless type of exertion). Thoughts? Any kiteboarding Doctors out there?"
hmmmmm...

is up and running...this is what we've been waiting for! Check it out

|
| Easter Sunday, Coyote Point...the lone kiter was 'screaming' Mikey. (yes...the water is that brown) |
 |
| April 10th, 3rd. Ave...a few late afternoon shots...here |
 |

is scheduled for August 13, 14, 15...King of the Bay site |
Lather, rinse, repeat...
Now hip-deep in muck, this guy had already spent 45 minutes doing a self-rescue before having to learn about 3rd. Ave. low tide the hard way...more pics here |
 |
| On a dreary March 22...a few shots of Coyote and 3rd. Ave. before the swirley southwest winds died.
This pic...Chuck Hamilton in the swirls
|
 |
March 15...Randy Nelson at Coyote
trying to make something out of nothing.
The promise of 20+ winds resulted in
the reality of 8 or so mph. What do you
do with 20 meters of kite? |
 |
| March 1st...just found this photo in the scanner. Steve Gunn at 3rd...

Steve just returned from the Kite Rodeo on South Padre Island. Location and hospitality were great, but no wind! You can see the possibilities.

He is already planning a return trip... |

Golf balls got you down? Please read this...
"The San Francisco Boardsailing Association will hold a meeting so
that all windsurfers and kitesurfers will have an opportunity to get
up to date on the golf ball situation at the Third Avenue/Foster
City launch and offer their input.
Please let me know if you will attend. The City is providing the
room which they normally charge for and I want to ensure that people
will be coming if we are going to take the room.
Wednesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. Foster City Community Center - Wind
Room 1000 E. Hillsdale Boulevard Foster City
This is a great time of year to have the meeting beacuse we will not
be torn between sailing and going to the meeting. It is important
to discuss the issue as a community so that we can take a position
with the city and the golf course that will give us the best chance
of avoiding anymore damage or injuries in the coming season/seasons.
Please forward this to any Third Ave sailors not on the distribution
list.
Thanks,
Peter Thorner President, San Francisco Boardsailing Association
