A few pics from 3rd...

May 1, 2009

Steve shares a few shots from last Saturday. Adam posing and missing a blind judge. Clint working on ralley/kiteloop on his way to kiteloop/handlepass, JR at the start of toe side/backroll/transition, Tan unhooked, Cecil going "upwind," and Ramsey taking advantage of a little guy.

Big Tuesday at 3rd...

April 15, 2009

Pretty windy at 3rd yesterday....12-47 on the inside and 30-53 on the outside..make that very windy!

JR and Ramsey were on their 6 SBs going huge. Bret was on his 7XB and his directional practicing high wind jibes for racing. Craig at maybe 220 needed a hold down from Ramsey who has withered away to a mere 245. Kevin was underpowered on an older 5. Rich was Rich. Owain took advantage of the swell on the inside. A big rig was blown over on the San Mateo Bridge and a 70 foot fishing boat slammed into the causeway section...bridge closed for 12 hrs.

NorCal moved a "new" container down to third. Between Helm and NorCal there should be no problem demoing a sail/board, kite/board, SUP, or getting that part you need to get on the water.

3rd Ave upper launch erosion
this one marks the 3rd Ave upper launch erosion changes over the recent years.

Coyote Pt kite launch areas
and this shows the kite launch situation at Coyote Pt.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2009 and another season of kiteboarding!

I don't know how old this Google satellite image is but it sure looks like the upper launch at 3rd Ave. has eroded a bunch since kiters started using it in 1999. Maybe SNix will provide the image he created with overlay lines marking the water's inward progress the past few years.
